The team that built Multiplay still runs it

The original crew are right here, with decades of shipping, scaling, and recovering live games between them, the kind of judgment you only build from real launch nights, now on yours.

| THE PLATFORM |

The sweet spot between bare metal and cloud

We pioneered the hybrid model, orchestrating bare metal and cloud as one system back in the 2010s, and we have run it at scale ever since. One scaling system picks the right capacity for every session, and you see a single API on top.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Multiplay?

Multiplay is a multiplayer game server hosting and orchestration platform operated by Rocket Science Group, offering hybrid bare-metal and cloud hosting, automatic scaling, zero-downtime patching and 24/7 live operations across 31+ global regions.

Is Multiplay the same as Unity Multiplay?

It's the same hosting technology. Unity concluded direct support for its Multiplay service on 31 March 2026 and licensed the software to Rocket Science Group, founded by members of the original Multiplay team. Multiplay now operates the platform independently.

Which game engines does Multiplay support?

Multiplay is engine-agnostic: Unity, Unreal Engine and custom engines, via SDKs, a CLI and the allocation API.
